When I worked at the Orlando Sentinel I launched the Animal Crazy blog. Probably my British heritage, but I've always been an animal nut. After all in England it is the Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals but the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
I was horrified to read this morning that three horses died during the filming of the HBO racetrack series LUCK. Then I just read on Twitter, courtesy of the Sentinel, that the show has been canceled. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/tv/zap-hbo-series-luck-canceled-after-three-horses-di-20120314,0,7701579.story.
That is good news. I find it unfathomable in this day and age that producers can't work out a way to make a film built around animals without harming them.
